**Hunter Alpha mystery solved — it was Xiaomi all along** — The mystery model that set off a week of DeepSeek V4 speculation has been identified. Xiaomi's AI team, called MiMo, confirmed that Hunter Alpha is an early internal test build of MiMo-V2-Pro — their flagship model designed to serve as the "brain" of AI agents. The model surfaced anonymously on OpenRouter on March 11th with a trillion-parameter count, one-million-token context window, and free access, leading to widespread assumptions it was DeepSeek's long-awaited V4. It was not. DeepSeek V4 remains unreleased. Xiaomi's MiMo team is led by Luo Fuli, a former DeepSeek researcher, which likely explains the architectural similarities that fooled benchmark trackers. The stealth launch also appears to be a deliberate test of developer reaction before an official announcement.

**MiniMax M2.7 — the self-evolving model** — MiniMax released M2.7 on March 18th, billing it as the first model in their series to exhibit what they call self-evolution: according to MiniMax, the system can autonomously handle 30 to 50 percent of a reinforcement learning research workflow — including generating hypotheses, running experiments, and evaluating results. Compared to M2.5, released just a month ago in February, M2.7 shows significant gains on software engineering benchmarks and professional office automation tasks. **Tencent QClaw goes public beta in WeChat** — Tencent's OpenClaw-based agent platform, QClaw, moved from internal testing to public beta on March 18th, with deep integration into WeChat as a mini-program. This gives QClaw access to WeChat's 1.3 billion monthly active users without requiring a separate app install. The integration allows users to control their AI agent by sending messages inside WeChat, with voice commands and image input on the roadmap. Multiple Chinese tech outlets, including South China Morning Post and TechXplore, confirmed the launch. Combined with Baidu's DuClaw and Shenzhen's government AI policy supporting OpenClaw, the China OpenClaw ecosystem is accelerating rapidly.

**Trump administration calls Anthropic an "unacceptable risk to national security"** — The DoD filed its formal court response on Tuesday, describing Anthropic's safety red lines as making the company an, quote, unacceptable risk to national security. The filing argues the Pentagon's blacklisting was justified and lawful, and that Anthropic's refusal to remove guardrails was not protected speech. CNN reports that former federal judges have filed in support of Anthropic, raising concerns about the supply-chain-risk designation being used as a coercive tool. Anthropic's CFO has told the court the company risks losing hundreds of millions in 2026 revenue due to the blacklisting. No court ruling yet — this is heating up.

**CVE-2026-3918 — Critical RCE in Chrome and Edge via WebMCP** — A critical use-after-free vulnerability in Chromium's WebMCP component was disclosed this week, affecting both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Tracked as CVE-2026-3918, the flaw exists in the browser's media processing infrastructure and could enable remote code execution. Google and Microsoft have issued March 2026 security patches. If you're using the OpenClaw browser control feature with Chrome — or really any Chromium-based browser — this is worth patching immediately. It's also a reminder that WebMCP, which turns websites into structured tool endpoints for AI agents, is now a meaningful part of the browser attack surface.
